S. Shariq Yosufzai

 

S. Shariq Yosufzai spent over 30 years in global leadership positions at Chevron, Texaco and Caltex, including Vice President, Global Diversity, Chevron Corporation, where he was responsible for Chevron’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) and Ombuds functions, and oversaw the company’s strategic partnerships with universities and professional societies.

In 2015, Chevron received the prestigious Catalyst Award for innovative organizational approaches in the advancement of women. Mr. Yosufzai was selected as one of the 2015 “Top 50 Diversity Professionals in Industry” worldwide by The Economist’s Global Diversity List and in 2017 was named among the “Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business” by the Asian American Business Development Center. 

From 2004 – 2010, Mr. Yosufzai served as President of Chevron Global Marketing where he led Chevron's fuels marketing, commercial and industrial marketing, and convenience retailing operations across 90 countries for the company’s three world class brands (Chevron, Texaco and Caltex).

In 2003, he co-led Chevron Products Company, responsible for Chevron’s North America Refining and Marketing Operations. Mr. Yosufzai has also served as President of Chevron Global Lubricants, Corporate Vice President of Caltex, President, Texaco Lubricants and as Vice President supporting Chevron’s CEO & Chairman on the National Petroleum Council (NPC) ‘Future Fuels’ Study.

In August 2017, Mr. Yosufzai received the “Inspiring Across Generations (IAG)” Inspirational Leader Award from Ascend, the largest non-profit Pan-Asian membership organization for business professionals in North America.

He was also recognized as among the 2016 “Top Executives in Corporate Diversity” by Black Enterprise Magazine and one of the “Top 25 Champions of Diversity in STEM” by Diversity Global Magazine. Mr. Yosufzai was recipient of the 2016 Chemical Engineering Excellence Award for Professional Achievement from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) -  Northern California Chapter. In 2015, the World Affairs Council of San Francisco honored him as an outstanding foreign-born leader who has made outsized contributions to the Bay Area economy and culture. 

As an AIChE Fellow, he was honored with the 2014 Fuels & Petrochemicals Division Award for major contributions to the advancement of the fuels and petrochemicals industries. “Upwardly Global” named Mr. Yosufzai the 2012 Outstanding Corporate Leader for his contributions to diversity and economic development in California. Previously he was recipient of the AIChE’s Inaugural Industry Leadership Award (2010) and the Robert L. Jacks Memorial Award (1995). 

Mr. Yosufzai serves as Chair of the AIChE Foundation Board of Trustees, and as an advisory board member of the UnidosUS (formerly the National Council of La Raza) and a trustee of the NAACP Foundation. He is also President of the Berkeley Symphony Board of Directors and serves on the boards of the San Francisco Opera and Cal Performances. He was the 2011 Chair of the Board of the California Chamber of Commerce and the 2010 Chair of the Board of The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University. 

Mr. Yosufzai earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, which has recognized him as a Distinguished Alumnus, Outstanding International Alumnus and Outstanding Engineering Alumnus.
