John N. Greene, Ph.D.

John N. Greene, Jr., Ph.D., is Principal at i5 Consulting, headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. John delivers a full array of services focused on initiatives to help talent and organizations succeed. As a management psychologist, his work falls into four broad, but related buckets: Executive Assessment, Development and Coaching; Organizational Strategy, Effectiveness; Diversity & Inclusion; Leadership and High Potential Development. His client list includes companies in manufacturing, pharma, academia, logistics and the non-profit sector.

John began his post-graduate career in the US Navy as a Clinical Psychologist, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. His work in the Navy afforded him a broad range of clinical experiences in assessment and treatment of active duty and civilian personnel and their families. All aspects of his work ultimately focused on determining the fitness and suitability of personnel in support of the Navy’s operational readiness. As a Naval Officer, he led command-based initiatives to improve the overall functioning of base systems and processes in support of operational readiness including his work as Command Equal Opportunity Officer and his work with the Navy JAG as expert witness.

Upon leaving the military, John joined RHR International a management consultancy. Building on his focus on vocational and operational readiness, John provided consultative services to the Fortune 500 and other organizations. His work in executive assessment required the evaluation and determination of executives for hire, potential, promotion and termination. His work in development planning and executive salvaging enabled organizations to ensure that their executives’ performance was optimized for the challenges they faced. He has consulted with organizations at various places in the organizational lifecycle including start-up, growth, turnaround or merger/acquisition. He was instrumental in defining an approach for the individual coaching of clients on issues of Diversity and Inclusion.

John builds on some 12 years of leadership at Johnson Controls, where he was last the Vice President of Global Workforce Diversity. His positions included Vice President- Corporate Human Resources and Vice President-Leader Development, along with other key people-affecting roles. He built and led teams in the Americas, Asia, and EMEA. His hallmark work at Johnson Controls included harmonizing the talent management processes, developing and administering the company’s flagship high-potential development programs, and establishing the global talent management function. He also established the Johnson Controls, Inc global diversity and inclusion strategy as a benchmark for diversity leadership and a critical pathway for improving organizational and people processes.

John has a BA-Psychology from the University of Michigan, and MA and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on topics of D&I, organizational effectiveness and strategy. He serves on the Boards of the LGBTQ Community Center of Milwaukee and New Beginnings are Possible. He is an ordained Elder. John is married to Tameica and they have six children including two adopted through Milwaukee’s foster care system.
